CEED at COP30

The 30th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30) comes on the heels of another series of deadly calamities for the Philippines.

The message to global leaders gathering in Brazil for COP30 could not be any clearer: with the intensifying climate crisis, death is already at the doorstep of vulnerable peoples and ecosystems across the world. There is no time to waste in the fight to meet the 1.5C goal.

CEED will be standing in solidarity with fellow Filipino civil society and global advocates for climate justice and action at COP30. If you are on the ground in Belem, we also invite you to join us in the following:

☀️Advancing Renewable Energy in Southeast Asia

14 November 2025, 5:00-6:00 pm | Asia Climate Solutions Pavilion | Hosted by the Center for Energy, Ecology, and Development | Please register here

Southeast Asia is a region rich in renewable energy, but today it continues to be a global bastion for fossil fuels. While ASEAN nations are signatories to the Paris Agreement and some to the Global Methane Pledge, these commitments are undermined by the widespread expansion of fossil fuel projects, especially fossil gas. With the gas buildout, SEA endangers its energy transition and climate ambitions, and its highly biodiverse seas – a matter which Southeast Asian movements raised alarm on as world leaders gathered for the 47th ASEAN summit ahead of COP30. In this panel discussion, we explore the challenges and opportunities in ambitiously transitioning to renewable energy in the region.

Corporations play a decisive role in achieving global climate goals, yet accountability mechanisms remain weak compared to those applied to governments. While national commitments are increasingly tested through courts and international law, corporate climate pledges often lack binding force or transparency. This session will explore how legal frameworks, policy instruments, and cross-sector collaboration can translate voluntary commitments into measurable, enforceable, and just corporate climate action.
